RTE 1.2 million tonnes of snow and snow-related debris have been cleared from the Mediterranean Sea, in an effort to prevent the country’s major flooding.
The Mediterranean Sea was one of the key regions to avoid flooding in recent years.
In 2016, authorities in the Mediterranean coastal region said that nearly 2,000 people died and 3,500 were missing.
This year, the country has received more than 20 inches of snow, and the region has been blanketed by snow since mid-January.
It’s expected to get up to 5 inches of fresh snow over the next two weeks, with the heaviest snowfall expected on Sunday.
There has been heavy flooding in southern Tunisia, and in the southern Egyptian coastal areas, with at least one fatality.
