I have decided not to recommend traveling to the UK for business or personal reasons.
It has become apparent that the UK is not an attractive destination to people looking to travel to the EU, and I believe this is because of the ongoing investigation of the Brexit referendum.
It is becoming more clear that the British people have a right to know what they are voting on, and that the EU’s institutions have failed to act to protect the public from the risk of terrorism.
I also feel that it is necessary to take some time to reflect on what I have done wrong and what we can learn from this tragedy, and the many other examples of mismanagement that I have experienced.
This was a terrible decision, and one that I would never recommend to anyone.
However, I can no longer defend my decision, nor will I try to change it.
I will continue to monitor developments in the UK and will update this story as appropriate.
Travel advisories remain on the European Union’s website, and we will continue working with the European Commission to update our travel advice on this topic.
